Lady Barons Fall to Tigers
The Brewton-Parker Christian University Lady Barons faced off against the Stillman College Tigers on November 1, 2025, in a non-conference basketball game held in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Despite their efforts, the Lady Barons struggled against the Tigers, ultimately falling with a final score of 76-43 in favor of Stillman.
The game started off challenging for Brewton-Parker as Stillman quickly took the lead, finishing the first quarter ahead 17-10. Key players such as Sydney Beasley and Andranique Stewart were notable for their contributions; Stewart scored multiple layups, and Beasley executed a fast-break layup in the final minutes. However, Stillman's early momentum was further solidified in the second quarter, as they extended their lead to 36-21 by halftime.
In the third quarter, the Lady Barons made attempts to close the gap, with Tia Floyd and Sydney Beasley hitting three-pointers, but the Tigers maintained their dominance. Stillman's lead grew to 18 points by the end of the quarter. The Lady Barons' situation worsened in the fourth as they struggled offensively against Stillman's strong defense. The Tigers concluded the game with their largest lead at 35 points.
Following the game, Head Coach Steve Edwards expressed dissatisfaction with the team's performance.
"We played uninspired basketball today. Today is probably the most embarrassed I've ever been as a coach. I have to do a better job of getting us prepared and putting us in a position to be successful. I didn't do that today, and it showed. We will be a better team soon. We have a lot of work to do."
As they look forward to their next game against Southeastern University on November 4, 2025, the Lady Barons aim to overcome their current challenges and improve their season record, which currently stands at 0-2. They hope to get into the win column with their home opener.
