Barons Advance in Postseason with Win Over Skyhawks

In a gripping postseason showdown, the Brewton-Parker Barons softball team secured a significant victory against the Point Skyhawks on May 1 at the Wilson Morgan Cpx #4 in Decatur, Ala. The Barons outscored the Skyhawks with a final tally of 6-3 amidst challenging weather conditions, marked by a cloudy, windy day with temperatures in the high 70s.

Morgan Willingham, Hailey Gabrich, and Alyssa Usrey led the charge for the Barons, contributing critical runs that solidified their lead. Cailyn Snellgrov was particularly impactful, driving in three runs including a clutch single in the second inning. Gabrich, Kaci Paul, and Shelby Aiken also contributed with one RBI each, rounding out a robust offensive performance by the team. On the pitching front, Kaylee Odum delivered a stellar complete game, allowing only two earned runs and demonstrating her crucial role in the team's success.

With this win, the Barons improve their season record to 18-25-1 and look ahead to their next challenge against Thomas University on the very same day.
