Normandy High School Invaders Girls Basketball Team Looks Ahead to a Promising Season
The Normandy High School Invaders are gearing up for another exciting season of girls basketball, with their first game scheduled against Elyria on November 21, 2025. Under the guidance of Head Coach Anthony Schmook, who is entering his fourth year with a notable career kickoff, the team hopes to build on last season's strong performance. Last year, the Invaders claimed the title of District Runner Up with a final record of 16-8.
Coach Schmook's roster this year includes key returning players such as junior guards Ziley Minich, Lindsay Meriweather, Allison Pollock, Sofia Szymczak, and senior guards Keilei Anderson and Giana Carcioppolo. Junior forward Faith Mathis also returns, ready to make significant contributions. The team's philosophy this season, encapsulated by Coach Schmook's motto, 'We look to emphasize work hard and play hard. Win as team!', aims to foster a strong, cohesive unit.
The Invaders host their games at Normandy High School, a venue that will witness an intense schedule featuring matches against prominent teams like Bay Village, Holy Name, and Westlake. Notable games include challenging encounters on December 7 against Holy Name, and on January 23 against Revere from Columbus. With a packed roster and an ambitious schedule, the Invaders are poised for a season of relentless basketball, aiming to surpass their previous achievements and set new milestones.
