In a dominant display at Marvel Field, Brown Men's Rugby team cruised to an impressive 87-0 victory against the Iona Gaels on September 28, enhancing their winning streak in the Liberty Conference's regular season. Despite a challenging start, the Brown team recaptured their form to close the match with a flourish of tries, leaving Iona scoreless throughout the contest.

Brown entered half-time leading 33-0, thanks to a concerted effort which unfolded after a slightly sluggish initial 25 minutes riddled with penalties and turnovers. The latter part of the match saw the squad executing their strategies with deft precision, maintaining ball possession and score eleven tries in the final 55 minutes of play. Key players such as Cameron McAlpine, Garett Mann, and Tito Edjua, alongside a notable double score by Charm Tuala and Marco Lapierre contributed significantly to the tally. Raphael Lansonneur, co-captain of the team, proved instrumental, scoring 11 conversions throughout the course of the match.

Lansonneur shared some insights into the match dynamics,

"We started out slow, giving away penalties and possession frequently early on, but we pulled together and got things going later in the first half and started piling up points with great execution from all the boys on the pitch."

Acknowledging the initial hiccups, Brown's Coach David Laflamme expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance post the early setbacks, emphasizing the importance of execution according to their standards,

"As coaches, we have to nit pick because we know what this team is capable of, and how we played in the first 20-25 minutes of this match was just not up to our standard. Once they righted the ship though, we were very happy with the results. As we think about what we're trying to accomplish later in the season, we can't play like we played in the first quarter of this match. I was glad to see them recover and execute our systems effectively."

Brayden Wallace also marked a personal milestone by scoring his first try for the team, contributing to a match that was memorable not just for the scoreline but for significant individual achievements as well. Looking ahead, Brown Men's Rugby is set to face American International College on October 13 at Ronald J. Abdow Field, Springfield, MA, aiming to continue their undefeated run in the season, currently holding a 4-0 record.
