KMS Fighting Saints Basketball Faces Tough Loss to TMB Panthers
In a challenging regular season encounter, the KMS Schools' boys' varsity basketball, known as the Fighting Saints, suffered a setback against the Tracy Milroy Balaton Panthers with a final score of 57-86 at KMS on January 14, 2025.
The game began with the Panthers taking a solid lead by halftime, leaving the scoreboard reading 37-26 in favor of TMB. Despite efforts to bridge the gap, the Fighting Saints could not counter the Panthers' outstanding shooting, especially from beyond the arc. TMB shot close to 50 percent from the 3-point line, a statistic that significantly tilted the scales in their favor.
KMS's top performer was Gavin Mulder, who scored 18 points along with grabbing 8 rebounds. He was supported by Hunter Engelke and Teagen Diederich, each adding 10 points, with Diederich also contributing 5 assists. Talen Riley also played a notable role with 6 rebounds.
Coach Fragodt from KMS reflected on the team's challenges,
"TMB stayed true to their game and shot really well. We are not the type of team that can stay with that type of scoring... We have had some sickness go through the team so that has affected our rotations a bit. We will need to bounce back and keep working on defense,"
he said, emphasizing the effects of health issues on the team's performance and rotations.
Looking ahead, the Fighting Saints will host the BBE Jaguars on January 16, 2025, as they seek to improve their current record of 4 wins and 7 losses, with a conference record of 2-5. KMS must regroup quickly to face their next challenge and secure a victory in front of their home crowd.
