Union Grove High School Girl’s Tennis Team Dominates at Racine Case Invitational

Union Grove High School’s Girls Tennis team, representing the Broncos, showcased outstanding skill and determination at the Racine Case Invitational on August 29, 2025. The Broncos competed against several schools including Thomas More, Whitnall, Park/Horlick, Shoreland Lutheran, and Kenosha Indian Trail, clinching victory in all encounters with impressive scores. The team's overall performance resulted in an unblemished 5-0 tournament record, tying for first place in points with Westosha Central.
In individual match highlights, the Broncos demonstrated strong performances across the board. The standout players in singles were #2 Lorelei Nelson, #3 Elli Duval, and #4 Emma Santarelli, each securing a perfect 5-0 record in their matches. Their efforts were pivotal in maintaining the team's overall dominance throughout the tournament. In doubles, the #2 team of Sophie Madden and Addy Callewaert, along with the #3 team, Allison Wolf and Brooke Bournoville, also completed the tournament without dropping a match, reinforcing the Broncos' depth and skill.
A particularly notable match involved #1 singles player, Cam Smith, who after a second-set loss, brilliantly won her tiebreaker 10-4 against her opponent from Thomas More. This victory was crucial in setting the tone for the team’s success in subsequent matches. Adding to the individual accolades, Lorelei Nelson, excelling at #2 singles, improved her season record to an impressive 16-1.
Coach of the Broncos shared a few thoughts post-event, stating, 'I thought the girls were very focused today,' highlighting the team's preparation and mental strength. Looking ahead, the Broncos are set to host Burlington at their next event on September 4, 2025, at Union Grove. With a current record of 16-1, the team’s prospects for the remainder of the season are promising.
