Taft College Women's Basketball Defeats Bakersfield College
Taft College Cougars claimed a decisive victory against the Bakersfield College Renegades with a final score of 80-61 in a non-conference basketball game held at the Renegade Athletic Center on December 19, 2025.
The game commenced with Bakersfield pulling ahead early, but the Cougars quickly caught up, ending the first quarter with a lead of 17-11. The Renegades fought back in the second period, tying the game at 33-33 by halftime. However, the third quarter saw a dominant performance from Taft, outscoring Bakersfield and establishing a 54-41 lead. The momentum continued into the fourth quarter, culminating in Taft's significant 80-61 victory over their opponents.
Madyn Kassatly was a standout player, scoring 17 points, grabbing 9 rebounds, and achieving 5 steals. Laila Gines contributed significantly with 14 points. Other notable players included Aubrey Aldan and Tiara Jackson, whose defensive efforts were crucial in strengthening the Cougars' lead. Tiara Jackson also led the team in assists, alongside her scoring and steals.
With this victory, the Cougars get back on track improving their season record to 14-1. Head Coach Romeo Lagmay Jr. praised the team's discipline and resilience, emphasizing their consistent effort and strategic play.

said Lagmay.
The Cougars will have a week holiday break before they return to action set to face Santa Ana College on the road in their next matchup on December 30.
