BHS Track & Field Girls take 2nd at Tri-Meet!
On a sunny and warm day in Bay Village, the BHS girls track and field team hosted their third straight home meet, this time a tri-meet against North Olmsted and Magnificat. Missing some of the team thanks to Spring Break, the squad still finished well, taking 2nd overall in scoring 55 points to Magnificat's 74 and North Olmsted's 42.
In the sprint relays, the teamwork of Jaiden Latimer-Smith, Mckenna Adkins, Birdie Krueger, Ruby Render, Alex Linsenmeyer, and Annie Willmitch secured 1st place finishes in both the 4x100m and 4x200m relays while Mckenna demonstrated versatility and skill by also attaining 2nd in Long Jump and placing in the 100 and 300m Hurdles as well. Meanwhile, senior Erin Belveal's strategic decision to focus on the 3200m paid off with a first-place win, and her leadership shone brightly as she aided her teammates Hannah Starnes and Keira Jansen to season bests in the 1600m. In the 800m run, freshman Ruby Render earned a 1st place finish in her first ever attempt at the event.
The contributions in field events were equally impressive. Freshman Chloe Pyros made a mark with a first-place finish in the Shot Put, and other team members showed strong performances as well, including a 2nd place by Jaiden in High Jump and Carolyn Cutteridge taking 3rd in Pole Vault. Meanwhile, the discus event saw senior Maddie Knaack and Chloe clinching 2nd and 3rd places, respectively.
Freshman Ruby Render shared a light-hearted perspective on her first 800m run,
"I was just bored standing around so decided why not give the 800m run a try?"
Looking ahead, the Rockets are set to compete at the Comet Relays on April 26, 2025.
