Bay Rockets Secure Solid Victory Against Normandy at Nike Park
In a remarkable display of skill and strategy, the Bay High School Rockets softball team triumphed over Normandy with a final score of 5-2 on a sunny but chilly day at Nike Park. The game, which took place on April 30, 2025, was an integral part of their regular season conference schedule.
From the outset, the Rockets showcased their prowess. Key contributions came from players like Caitie Petersen, Payton Masterson, Cam Williams, and Katie Sommers who each crossed home plate to build the commanding lead. At the mound, Katie Sommers delivered an impressive performance as the starting pitcher, keeping Normandy's batters at bay.
The offense was further bolstered by Lizzie McFarland, who not only went 2-for-3 but also contributed two vital RBIs. Alongside her, Ella Taulbee and Maeve McFarland each garnered two hits, contributing significantly to the team's success. Lizzie's standout moment came with a crucial double in the top of the second inning, scoring the opening runs for the Rockets.
