Bay Varsity Rockets Clinch Narrow Victory Over Westlake Demons
In a nail-biting regular season conference baseball game on April 30, 2025, the Bay Varsity Rockets triumphed over the Westlake Demons with a close score of 4-3. Held at the opponent's field, the game featured a mix of stellar pitching and strategic hitting that led the Rockets to a well-earned victory under sunny skies with a crisp breeze.
The Bay Varsity Rockets, representing Bay High School, saw key performances from several players, particularly pitcher Trevor Ormsby, who delivered an impressive stint on the mound with six innings pitched, allowing only one earned run and striking out four. Ormsby's efforts not only held the Demons at bay but also improved his season record to two wins against two loses. He was also effective offensively, hitting a timely RBI single in the first inning.
Scoring for the Rockets was spread among Caleb Rinehart, Ethan Sedivec, Jackson Ziemnik, and Jack McManamon, each contributing critical runs. Rinehart particularly shone, going 2 for 4 with a double and a triple, demonstrating both power and speed on the bases. Charlie Rodgers and Ormsby each added an RBI, supporting their team's winning effort.
A significant moment of the game was during the top of the second inning when Jack McManamon drew a walk, subsequently scored on Rinehart's triple. Rodgers followed with a single, bringing Rinehart home, and cementing the team's lead early in the game. The Rockets' next challenge will be against Rocky River, hosting them on May 1, 2025, at Bay High School, as they look to improve their current record of 8-7 and keep their winning momentum.
