The match was particularly notable during the second set where Bishop Foley faced a tough challenge but eventually emerged victorious with a close 27-25 win. Key player performances included senior Emma Behnke, who led with 7 kills and also contributed significantly on defense with 12 digs. Junior Rosie Lass also stood out by serving 7 aces and securing 9 digs, contributing greatly to the team's success. The match saw impressive debuts from new varsity players, adding depth to the team's dynamic.

"I was a little nervous competing in my first Varsity game, but I had the support of my teammates throughout the match. I had some good sets in the beginning, but then settled in as the game went on. I was glad to get the season started off with a win,"

said junior Mary Maltese, reflecting on her successful Varsity debut.

Coach Colleen Szakacs expressed satisfaction with the team's performance.

"I'm very ecstatic with how the 1st games went for our whole program. I am especially impressed with how well this varsity team works together and the energy we have to start off this season. We have a lot of talent and are excited to see how the rest of the season will go!"
