Bishop Foley Ventures Narrowly Defeated in Non-League Game Against Fraser
In a closely contested non-league baseball game held on May 20, 2025, at BFC Venture Field, the Bishop Foley Ventures fell to Fraser with a final score of 4-3. This event marked a pivotal moment in the team's season, accentuating the high level of competition and skill in varsity boys' baseball.
The game began with a promising offensive play by the Ventures as Cooper Dolot grounded out to help tie the game at one in the bottom of the first inning. However, Fraser seized control in the top of the fourth inning with a series of strategic plays that included a double to center field, a walk, and a single down the left field line, each contributing to a run scored, bringing the score to 4-1. Despite the early setback, the Ventures demonstrated resilience and skill throughout the match.
Pitcher Tad Dobek led the defense, pitching a solid seven innings in which he allowed five hits and four runs, three of which were earned. Dobek notably struck out seven batters while walking four. Offensively, Stephen Tortora, Mason Kanar, Dobek, and Carson Coles each managed to secure a hit, contributing effectively to the team's efforts. Notably, Dobek and Dolot also drove in one run each. Nolan Murawski's quick base running resulted in two stolen bases, highlighting the team's aggressive strategy, which amassed a total of four stolen bases.
The team displayed exemplary defensive skills, particularly reflected in their error-free game and a crucial double play. Max Ensley stood out defensively with the most fielding chances, totaling five.
Moving forward, the Bishop Foley Ventures are scheduled to face Clawson at Clawson City Park on May 27, 2025, in the upcoming MHSAA District play, aiming to improve their current season record of 7-11.
