Bishop Foley Cross Country Posts Strong Performance at 2024 OCS Small School Invite
On September 5, 2024, the Bishop Foley High School cross-country team made a solid showing at the 2024 OCS Small School Invite held at Stoney Creek Metro Park. The boys' team placed 9th, while the girls' team achieved an 8th-place finish, each out of 12 competing teams. This event served as a robust starting line for the season, showcasing significant improvements and solid team spirit.
The training and strategy employed by Coach Scott Lewis are bearing fruit, as evidenced by individual performances and overall team results. 'Cross country season is
"off and running"
and our Venture athletes are making improvements in both their running form as well as their times,' said Coach Lewis. He highlighted the boys' first wins of the season and expressed optimism for the upcoming meets.
Key runners for Bishop Foley included Gabe Coraci, Joey Maddock, and Peter Mutschler, who placed 37th, 39th, and 48th respectively for the boys' team. On the girls' side, Josephine Malysz led with a 21st-place finish, followed closely by Elizabeth Ballor in 23rd and Elanor Barnes in 32nd place.
Looking forward, the team is preparing for 'The Holly Festival of Races 2024' set to take place on September 14, 2024, at Springfield Oaks County Park. As the team gears up for the next challenge, they carry forward the momentum and lessons from the OCS Small School Invite.
