Bishop Foley Varsity Ventures Split Doubleheader Against Greenhills
In a tight competition at Concordia University, the Bishop Foley Varsity Ventures faced off against Greenhills in a CHSL League doubleheader on April 11, 2025. The Ventures split the games, losing the first but rallying back to win the second, bringing their season record to an even 2-2.
The first game saw the Ventures trailing with a final score of 7-2 against Greenhills. Despite the loss, Bishop Foley showcased strong pitches from Tad Dobek, who threw for six innings and struck out 10 batters. Offensively, Mason Kanar and Tyler Vogel each contributed with hits, while Carson Coles exhibited patience, drawing three walks. Overall, the team accumulated 10 walks. However, the offensive prowess of Greenhills, notably from their leadoff hitter Love and the consistently impactful #12, proved too much for the Ventures.
The second game was a narrow victory for Bishop Foley, as they edged out Greenhills with a 3-2 win in a pitcher's duel. Mason Kanar was pivotal on the mound, delivering a strong performance over five innings by allowing only two hits and two runs, and capturing eight strikeouts. Errors by Greenhills played a crucial role in the Ventures securing the lead early in the game, with Connor Kokenos's walk bringing in a critical run.
Both teams demonstrated strong defense, each turning a double play in their respective games. Bishop Foley's resilience in the second game highlighted their capacity to bounce back and split the doubleheader, maintaining a balanced record as they move forward in the season.
Looking ahead, the Ventures are set to compete against Shrine at Memorial Park in Royal Oak on April 15, 2025. The team aims to leverage their recent experiences to build on their performance and advance their standing in the league.
