Bishop Foley Ventures Baseball Team Splits Doubleheader with Shrine Knights

In a thrilling CHSL League doubleheader on April 15, 2025, at Memorial Park, the Bishop Foley Ventures varsity baseball team experienced a mix of triumph and setback against the Shrine Knights. The Ventures secured a close 5-4 victory in the first game but fell 4-3 in a grueling 11-inning second game.
The first game saw the Ventures cling to an early lead, with Tad Dobek's double driving in three runs in the top of the first inning. Additional runs came from a sacrifice fly by Connor Kokenos. Mason Kanar showcased his pitching skills, striking out 11 batters and limiting Shrine to four runs across six innings. Despite Shrine's attempts to rally, Cooper Dolot secured the save for Foley. Highlighting the offensive effort, Nolan Murawski contributed two hits, while Tyler Vogel and Carson Coles added aggression on the base paths, stealing multiple bases.
The second game, however, ended in heartbreak for Foley as Shrine tied the game in the second inning and took the lead in the eleventh after a dropped third strike allowed the winning run. Tad Dobek again starred, striking out 19 batters over 10 innings and driving in two runs himself. Unfortunately, a strong defensive showing by Shrine, including several stolen bases, prevented Foley from clinching the win.
As they move forward, the Ventures will look to rebound on April 29 against Our Lady of the Lakes, focusing on tightening their fielding performance and continuing their aggressive base running. Currently holding a 3-2 record, the Ventures are determined to continue improving and pushing for a strong finish in the league.
