Magnificat High School Blue Streaks Tie with Saint Joseph Academy Jaguars in Season Soccer Showdown

The varsity soccer team at Magnificat High School, the Blue Streaks, faced off against the Saint Joseph Academy Jaguars in a regular season game held at Magnificat on a beautiful sunny day, August 22, 2025. The much-anticipated rivalry game ended in a 2-2 draw, showcasing the skills and resilience of both teams.
The first half was tightly contested with each team managing to secure a goal. Magnificat's Lexi Hradek scored in the 22nd minute, finding the net with a stunning shot that beat the Jaguars' goalie on the left. This came shortly after a SJA goal at the 25 minute mark when SJA's Myla Drobnik popped in a great header from a corner kick, giving SJA a 1-0 lead. The half ended with the teams locked in a draw, setting the scene for an intense second half.
As the second half kicked off, Magnificat took the lead with Willow Trapp scoring a deflection goal to the right side of the SJA goalie at the 10 minute mark. The Blue Streaks' joy was short-lived, however, as SJA's Emma Mittendorf tied the game once again at the 8 minute mark, scoring in a scramble in the middle, which turned out to be the last goal of the match. Despite pressure from Magnificat and solid defense from SJA including excellent goalkeeping, the match concluded at a 2-2 tie.
Coach Tommy from Magnificat commented on the day's events and the season's outlook, stating,
"The game of today is why we love and hate the game at the same time...We are a new staff, new players...no excuses...this group has a lot of talent...we are going to keep working and go and get it."
He expressed confidence in the team's potential and determination for future games.
