Saint Ignatius High School Wildcats Secure Victory in Wrestling Dual Meet Against Aurora High School
The Saint Ignatius High School Wildcats triumphed over the Aurora High School Greenmen in a closely contested regular season wrestling dual meet. Held at the Sullivan Gym on December 12, 2025, the Wildcats edged out a victory with a final score of 41-37. This win elevates the Wildcats' season record to an undefeated 2-0.
The match featured several key performances that contributed to the Wildcats' success. Freshman James Lentz delivered a pivotal moment at 144 pounds, managing a come-from-behind victory by executing a cradle to secure a fall in the second period. This action not only highlighted Lentz's skill but also provided a significant boost to the team's morale and score. Additionally, the upper weight classes demonstrated dominance with three consecutive pins. Max Geffert at 190 lbs, Caine Glover at 215, and Luke Spinos at heavyweight each secured victories by pin, boosting the Wildcats' lead and cementing their victory.
Senior Captain Talen Blogna expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, remarking, 'We tried real hard and had a lot of fun.' Echoing this positive sentiment, Head Coach Sean Gill '08 praised the team's resilient spirit, stating, 'Extremely proud of the team effort. We are a young team, but the guys wrestled with a ton of heart and clawed their way to a great victory.'
Looking ahead, the Wildcats are set to compete in the Al Pinter Tournament at Cuyahoga Heights HS on December 13, 2025. As they continue their season, the team appears to be in strong form, ready to face their next challenges.
