The Saint Ignatius High School Wildcats delivered a stunning performance at the Wooster High School Invitational event on September 6, 2025, showcasing both the depth and growth of their Boys Varsity Cross Country team.

Maxwell Friedrich, a leading runner for the Wildcats, broke his own school record, setting a remarkable pace with a finishing time of 14:53.7. Behind him, teammate Ben Mellion also excelled, setting a personal record with a finish time of 16:07. This meet proved to be a significant milestone for several team members, including Brian Geary who achieved a season-best of 16:37 in the 5K, pushing the limits of his previous performances. Matt Rowell and Ben Nicklas were close behind, with Rowell just seconds off his all-time best at 16:56 and Nicklas achieving a new personal best time of 17:11.07.

Reflecting on the team's progression this season, Coach's remarks were filled with optimism.

"We have had some fantastic performances so far this season and guys are learning and improving each week. I like where we are headed as a team and am looking forward to see how the guys will handle the next few weeks in some pretty competitive meets,"

he noted. The future looks promising for the Wildcats as they prepare for their next challenge at the Trinity/Valkyrie Invitational on September 20, 2025, at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, KY.
