Firehawks Eliminate Barons in SSAC Tournament

In a nail-biting post-season elimination softball game at Decatur, Ala., the Brewton-Parker Barons faced off against Tennessee Southern Firehawks on May 4, 2025. Despite a strong start, the Barons were edged out with a final score of 4-3, concluding their season with a record of 21-26-1.
Brewton-Parker took an early lead, scoring all three of their runs in the second inning, thanks to standout performances by Eboni Medina, Kaci Paul, and Cailyn Snellgrove. Eboni Medina, Shelby Aiken, and Tori Wright, who was also remarkable in bringing runs with fielder's choices, contributed notably to the team's efforts. This intense momentum, however, was matched in the seventh inning when Tennessee Southern successfully swung the balance in their favor to clinch the win, scoring off a single into right, where the throw from Medina was deemed not in time by the home plate umpire. Natalie O'Neal, starting as pitcher for Brewton-Parker, delivered a strong performance against a formidable opponent, throwing 4.2 innings before Samantha Mathews came in relief.
With this elimination, the Barons' journey this season ends. Their next competitive play will be awaited in the next season, providing the team ample time to regroup and aim for a strong comeback. Despite the disappointing end to their season, the Barons showed resilience despite the numerous setbacks they had to deal with during this postseason run.
