Eagles earn berth in district tournament by placing third at sectionals
Jena Plantner finished among the top 10 individuals Monday, leading the Avon girls golf team to a third-place finish in the Division I sectional golf tournament at Big Met Golf Course in Fairview Park.
With their team total of 365, the Eagles were one of four teams to earn a spot in the district tournament to be held October 7 at Tanglewood Golf Club in Chagrin Falls. The other team qualifiers were defending state champion Magnificat (301), St. Joseph Academy (331) and Avon Lake (368).
Pantner carded an 83, followed by Mylah Beran at 91, Jocelyn England at 93 and Reese Thomas and Emma Fitch each at 98.
