Avon High School Eagles Soar in First Swim Meet Victory of the Season
In an exhilarating display of aquatic skill, the Avon High School Eagles dominated their first dual swim meet of the season against Amherst Steele High School Comets. This victory marked a memorable senior night on December 19, 2024, at Oberlin College, underscoring the strength and depth of the Eagles' roster.
The meet concluded with the Eagles' girls and boys teams outscoring the Comets with significant margins. The girls' team triumphed with a score of 126-57, while the boys secured a resounding victory with a score of 126-40. These results highlight the Eagles' dominance in the pool, setting a high standard for the season.
Special accolades were given to standout athletes who excelled in their respective events. Brandon Porr stole the spotlight in the Boys 500 Yard Freestyle, clocking in an impressive time of 5:19.49. On the females' side, Ava Baranski showcased her prowess in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, narrowly clinching victory in a gripping race, clocking in at 1:19.33. Furthermore, Elly Huron's performance in girls diving was a highlight of the meet, scoring a remarkable 245.85 points.
Coach's reflections on the night resonated with pride and joy.
"Tonight was so much fun getting to celebrate senior night and winning our first dual meet of the season for both teams. Our senior class has been such an outstanding group the past four years and I am excited for what is in store for them this year,"
remarked the Eagles' coach.
Looking ahead, the Eagles are set to compete in the Northwest Ohio Classic, hosted by Fremont Ross High School and Bowling Green State University, on December 21, 2024. With the current record standing at 1-0 for both girls and boys teams, the Eagles are poised to continue their winning streak and make a significant impact in the upcoming events.
