Avon High School Eagles' Strong Performance at the Regional Gymnastics Competition
In an exciting day of gymnastics at Gym World of Twinsburg, the Avon High School Eagles showcased their skill and determination, securing a commendable second place in the Regional Gymnastics Competition involving multiple schools including Twinsburg, Padua, Stow, St Vincent St Marys, and North Ridgeville. With a team score of 122.4, the Eagles were just a step behind Padua, which won the event.
Avon's gymnastics team had standout performances, particularly from Isa Sikora, who scored an impressive 8.3 on the bars and earned 2nd place. Moreover, the team overcame significant challenges, including Corinne Broucek, who confidently stepped up to compete in all events after a teammate was sidelined due to an injury, and Daphne Ourednik, who bravely competed on the bars for the first time. Erin Till was able to complete in three events and is looking incredibly solid as she continues to rehab from illness and injury.
The team's coach highlighted their resilience,
"We started off a little wobbly on beam, but the girls powered through and made each event count. Their resilience and determination shined."
Looking ahead, the Eagles are set to compete against an extended lineup of schools at Buckeye on January 5, 2025. This next meet promises to be another exciting chapter in their season, as they continue to build on their successes and learn from each competition.
