Central Lake Trojans Face Defeat in Tough Matchup Against Bellaire Eagles
In a challenging Ski-Valley Conference basketball game held on December 18, 2025, at Central Lake High School, the Central Lake Girls Varsity Basketball Trojans were defeated by the Bellaire Eagles with a score of 32-22. This occurrence slightly marred the Trojans' otherwise strong season record, now standing at 3-1.
The game started unfavorably for the Lady Trojans as Bellaire propelled a 12-2 run in the first quarter, setting a tough pace Central Lake struggled to counteract. Throughout the game, the Lady Trojans fought hard but were unable to secure a lead, closing the first half trailing 17-10.
Statistically, Joelyssa Hayden emerged as the top scorer for the Trojans, contributing 10 points. Abby Miller led the team in rebounds with 7 and also contributed 4 points. In terms of defense, Myla Hibbard stood out with 4 steals. Regrettably, the team's overall shooting, especially from the free-throw line where only 6 of 18 attempts were successful, hindered their ability to close the gap.
Despite the offensive challenges, the Trojans demonstrated solid defensive capabilities by holding the potent Bellaire team to just 32 points. However, the initial deficit from the first quarter and subsequent challenges in gaining offensive momentum were difficult for Central Lake to overcome.
As the Lady Trojans look forward, their next challenge will be against Ellsworth Lancers in the Holiday Tournament Semi-Finals at Central Lake High School on December 22, 2025. The team undoubtedly aims to leverage their defensive strengths and improve their offense to clinch a victory in their upcoming game.
