Baraboo High School's Nolan Owen Celebrates 100th Career Victory in Wrestling

Baraboo High School and its wrestling community are celebrating a significant milestone as Nolan Owen, a key member of the Thunderbirds, secured his 100th career victory. The junior wrestler, competing in the 165 lb. weight class, achieved this remarkable feat last Friday night in a dual against Portage, showcasing his prowess on the mat. Nolan, who serves as a 2024-25 team co-captain, has been a consistent performer for Baraboo since joining the varsity wrestling team in his freshman year. Through his career, Nolan has accumulated accolades including multiple selections to the Badger Conference All-Conference Team and a 7th-place finish at the 2024 Bi-State Classic. His victory last Friday came in impressive fashion, pinning his opponent merely :17 into the second period. Coach Knipp shared his thoughts on the achievement. "It is very rewarding to see all of the work Nolan put in during the off-season pay off. He was gone for two months last summer, attending wrestling camps, and focusing on getting better. His success is not by accident," said Knipp. This recognition underscores the resilience and perseverance Nolan embodies. Nolan himself maintains a hearty and humble approach to his sport, attributing much of his success to the supportive environment fostered by his coaches and the team. "My approach is to go out and have fun. My coaches have helped me a lot," Nolan stated, reflecting his attitude towards wrestling and competition. The Thunderbirds continue to thrive under the close-knit leadership and the team hopes to build on these achievements for future success in the wrestling program. As Nolan Owen continues his journey, his 100th career victory stands as a testament to his skill, hard work, and the supportive backbone provided by Baraboo High School's wrestling team.
