Baraboo Thunderbirds Show Resilience at Soggy Badger Conference Golf Meet

In the face of challenging weather, Baraboo High School's varsity boys' golf team demonstrated grit and skill at the soggy Badger Conference meet held on May 1, 2025, at Coachman’s Golf Course in Stoughton. Despite the consistent rains, which persisted overnight and throughout the day, the Thunderbirds claimed 6th place among fierce competitors.

The team, led by standout performances, saw Jon Moon shoot the lowest score of the day with an 80, while freshmen Finley Schindler and Peyton Olson set personal season bests with scores of 81 and 82, respectively. Cooper Jauch and Thomas Sarnow both carded 83s, contributing to the team's solid performance under less than ideal conditions. Schindler's finish, parring his last 7 holes, marked a key moment of the meet, showcasing the resilience and potential of the young golfer.

Head Coach Landon Brownell praised his team's ability to maintain focus amid adversity, stating,

"Being able to bounce back and move on to the next hole is a big part of the mental game of golf."

This mindset was evident as Baraboo navigated through the initial challenges, making strategic adjustments to the wet and unpredictable greens.

Looking ahead, the Thunderbirds are set to compete in the Green Lake Invitational at Lawsonia Golf Course on May 7, 2025. With the recent display of mental toughness and skill, Baraboo High School looks forward to another opportunity to shine in the competitive golf landscape.
