The Fairbanks High School Panthers hosted a first-class varsity track and field quad home meet on April 23, exhibiting a strong performance from their male and female athletes despite the cold, wet, and windy conditions.

The quad meet featured a roster of strong contenders including Bellefontaine, Liberty Christian, and Calvary Christian. The women's team excelled, securing first place with a total score of 96.50 points. The men's team, while not victorious, still displayed its talent, securing second place with 53 points.

In the additional individual recognition in the running events, the Panthers' athletes shone. Boys' 100 Meter Dash saw Cohen Riley placed first, while his teammates Raiden Humble and Carson Shope secured third in the 100 and 200 Meter Dash, respectively. The women's team fiercely dominated with Kendra Turner and Rachael Hoover claiming first in the 100 and 200 Meter Dash events, with additional victories by other teammates highlighted across various categories, including hurdles and relay races. In the longer races, Claire Berry and Izzy Miller secured third in the 800 and 1,600 Meter events, respectively.

The field events were equally impressive. Abby Gardini and Claire Baker were victorious in the long and high jumps for the girls, while Madox Eagon and Brody Powell achieved top placements for the boys. Drew Sorg claimed the discus with a gold finish.

Senior Rachael Hoover noted,

" I was excited and sad to run my last track meet at Fairbanks. There is still a lot of the season to work toward my personal and team goals."

Coach Nate Stewart stated,

" It was a great showing from both our boys and girls. Seniors got the recognition they deserve and ran great races and threw well. We had a lot of PRs for both boys and girls, which helps set up Friday's invitational to be a good one."

As the team moves forward, the Fairbanks crew plans to take the momentum from their success at home to the Ben Logan Invitational on April 26. The meet will host a wide array of schools, including Tecumseh, Riverside, Perry, Calvary Christian, Celina, Fairlawn, Jonathan Alder, Kenton, and Kenton Ridge High Schools, giving the Fairbanks Panthers another opportunity to showcase their talent.
