Fairbanks Prepares for Victory After OHC North Win in Baseball Match

Story Image

The Fairbanks Panthers baseball team pulled off a narrow 4-3 victory against the West Jefferson Roughriders on April 24, earning them a notable position in the OHC North conference game.

On a sunny, chilly afternoon at Panther Hill, the varsity players displayed their skills, with Zavier Payne, Owen Woody, Carson Reames, and Chase Shope all crossing home plate to put runs on the board for the Panthers. Fairbanks' RBI contributors were Hayden Queen, Dayne Madison, Max Snyder, and Chase Shope, who each batted a runner in.

Pitching was a standout aspect for the Panthers. Max Snyder took the mound and pitched 6.1 innings, giving up just one hit while striking out nine. Dayne Madison stepped in to close the game, and with great composure, struck out the final two batters.

The Fairbanks victory also carried broader significance, as it dealt West Jefferson their first league loss in the current season. With this win, the Panthers improved their record to 8-5.

Looking forward, the Panthers are set to face Southeastern on their home turf on April 26.
