Union Grove Broncos Triumph in Rainy Football Battle Against South Milwaukee Rockets

The Union Grove High School Broncos delivered an impressive display of prowess in a regular season non-conference football game on August 29, 2025, blanking the South Milwaukee High School Rockets with a final score of 49-0. The game, played on their home turf in Union Grove, was marked by a dramatic shift in weather to a cool, rainy second half, which did not dampen the spirit or performance of the Broncos.
From the outset, the Broncos dominated the field. Justin Williamson made a stunning entrance by running the opening kickoff back 86 yards for a touchdown, electrifying the crowd and setting the tone for what was to come. The Broncos' offensive line allowed for stellar plays, including Jonte Everett scoring his first varsity touchdown and Quintyn Martinez adding to the scoreboard with three touchdowns; two on the run and one receiving from quarterback Quinn Schultz. Anthony Zimmerman and Garret Fletcher each contributed with a touchdown catch and run respectively.
The defense was equally formidable, contributing significantly to the Broncos' commanding lead. By halftime, the score was already decisive at 42-0. The Bronco defense featuring Griffin Schultz, Griff Williams, and Jackson Woods, added to their remarkable performance by securing a total of three interceptions throughout the game. The key moment was a dramatic goal-line stand at the end of the game, ensuring the 49-0 shutout over the Rockets.
Coach Craig McClelland praised the team’s efforts, highlighting the balanced performance across all phases of the game. Sophomore fullback Jonte Everett reflected on scoring his first touchdown emphasizing
“ It reminded me that every rep, every setback, and every ounce of hard work leads to a moment worth remembering forever.”
Looking ahead, the Broncos are scheduled to face the Elkhorn Elks in Southern Lakes Conference play next week on September 5, 2025, at Union Grove High School. With a current record of 2-0, the Broncos continue to show promise for the remaining season.
