Bay Rockets Fall Short in CWC Baseball Battle Against Buckeye Bucks
In a hard-fought regular season conference clash on a sunny afternoon at Bay High School, the Bay Rockets varsity baseball team faced a challenging defeat as they were edged out by the Buckeye Bucks Varsity with a score of 5-3. The game on April 24, 2025, brought Bay's current record to 5-6 as they prepare for their next game against the Longhorns of Lutheran West High School.
Bay Rockets' pitchers Trevor Ormsby and Jack McManamon showcased mixed performances, with Ormsby allowing 4 earned runs and striking out 3 over six innings, while McManamon sealed the final inning without allowing a run. Despite the pitching efforts by Ormsby who masterfully kept the Bucks off balance for the majority of his six innings of work, the Rockets could not overpower the Bucks, who were propelled by a significant 3-run homer from Jeff Costigan in the sixth inning.
Offensively, Bay's Caleb Rinehart, Charlie Rodgers, and Ethan Sedivec crossed the plate to contribute to the Rockets' scoring. Bringing in runs were Jackson Ziemnik and Trevor Ormsby. Charlie Rodgers and Ethan Sedivec contributed with 2 hits. Jackson Ziemnik and Andrew Liatti also had a hit each. However, their efforts were overshadowed by the Bucks' powerful batting display, highlighted by Costigan's game-defining home run, covering all bases in one powerful swing, marking a key moment in the game.
The Rockets look forward to their encounter at Lutheran West High School on April 25, 2025, to face the Longhorns and aim for a rebound from this setback. As the team regroups, they remain determined to improve their standings in the conference and showcase the resilience typical of Bay High School's athletic teams.
