On a cold and overcast day, the Bay Girls Track & Field team competed in the 69th annual Comet Relays, one of the biggest events in Northeast Ohio, taking 23rd overall.

In the distance running events, freshman Carmella Roehl started things off for the Rockets in the first event of the day, running in her third varsity invitational of the season! In the 4x1600 Relay, Anne Weber, Hannah Starnes, Keira Jansen, and Erin Belveal took 10th overall, highlighted by Anne’s season PR in the 1600! Anne, Hannah, and Erin were later joined by freshman Elyse Mull in the DMR, who stepped up to help the team cap off the final event on the track for the Rockets.

In the sprints, sophomore Annie Willmitch not only qualified to the finals in the 100m Dash, but ended up taking 5th overall in the event. Not done, she later helped the Sprint Medley Relay team of herself, Birdie Krueger, Jaiden Latimer-Smith, and Ruby Render to score more points for the team with their 7th place finish.

In the field events, the Long Jump team of Ruby, Keira, and Mckenna Adkins took 8th place overall thanks to some fantastic early morning long jumps while in the throws, Chloe Pyros and Banning Gallagher enjoyed solid outings despite the elements!
