Three reach double figures as Eagles take third victory in a row
Audrey Lammers and Abby Owens each had 12 points Saturday and Chloe Colins added 10 as host Avon defeated North Ridgeville, 54-46, in Southwestern Conference girls basketball action. It was the third consecutive victory for the Eagles, 3-2 overall and 2-1 in league play.
Avon held a slim lead of 12-11 after one quarter, but with Owens hitting two of her three 3-pointers, the Eagles expanded the lead to 26-18 by halftime. The margin was up to 41-30 after three quarters, and Avon then held on by hitting 7 of 10 free throws in the final quarter, including 5 of 6 by freshman Collins, who scored all 10 of her points in the second half.
Next up for Avon is an SWC matchup at Olmsted Falls on Wednesday. One of the top programs in the state the past few years, Olmsted Falls is currently 4-0 and tied atop the SWC standings with Avon Lake.
