Avon Eagles Celebrates the Hall of Fame Class of 2025

The Avon Athletic Hall of Fame Committee is set to celebrate an impressive legacy of athletic excellence with its upcoming Hall of Fame Night on Saturday, September 20, starting at 6:00 p.m. This event, hosted in the school's Performing Arts Center, will honor outstanding former student-athletes, coaches, and contributors who have significantly impacted the school's sports history.
The inductees will also be recognized prior to kickoff on Friday Night at the Avon Eagles Take on the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs.
The 2025 Hall of Fame ceremony will feature a diverse group of inductees. Among them is Denise Wearsch Lahoski, a four-sport All-Ohio standout from the class of 1991. Lahoski, who earned nine varsity letters during her time at Avon, set multiple school and district records. Jim Baylee, from the class of 1954, noted for his multiple sport achievements and his service in the Army, will also be recognized.
The evening will also honor Ryan O'Rourke, a significant figure in Avon football history, alongside Mari Gundersen Ramos and Dessa Dzubak, both class of 1989, who made notable contributions in basketball, softball, and beyond. The event celebrates not just individual achievements but also team success, notably the 2008 Eagles Football Team, which had a commendable run under Coach Mike Elder.
Adding to the evening's significance, Mike Moran, the long-time 'Voice of the Eagles,' will receive the 2025 Frankie Smitek Award, highlighting his enduring contribution to the Avon sports community.
The event promises to be a night of nostalgia, pride, and community spirit, reflecting on the strong legacy of the Avon High School sports programs and their continued influence both on and off the field.
