Brown Men's Rugby Mixed Side Defeats Siena College in Friendy B-Side Match
On a sunny and warm September 13th, on Marvel Field, a mixed side of Brown Men's Rugby players celebrated the club's third victory out of three matches on the day, outscoring the Siena College Saints b-side with a final of 48-30.
The first half concluded with the Bears leading 24-10, setting a strong pace against the Saints. Key players like St John Smith, Fred Hughes (who scored twice), Quinn Miller, Erik Estienne (also scoring twice), Reid Spence, and Marco Lapierre contributed significantly by scoring tries, while Marco Lapierre added three conversions and Fred Hughes one, boosting the team's points total in a high-scoring affair.
Despite numerous substitutions and fielding a mix of a-side reserve, new, and social players, who all had never played together before, Brown overcame a deficit in the first 20 minutes and maintained their lead by continuously applying attacking pressure, ensuring a win despite allowing more points in the second half. This roster depth and adaptability underline the entire club's performance excellence on this day.
