Brown B-side Dominates Siena in Season Opener
In a match marked by inclement weather, Brown Men's Rugby b-side team showcased resilience and skill, securing a commanding 41-5 victory over the Siena Saints on September 7, 2024, in Loudonville, NY.
The B-side Bears, braving pouring rain throughout the match, began the season with an impressive display of offense and defense, leading 24-0 at halftime. Garett Mann led the try-scoring with three, followed by Kenyon Graham with two. Erik Estienne and Jimmy Phelan also contributed one try each, making significant inroads into the Saints' defence.
The conversions by Joe Ashford and Malcolm Grant further solidified Brown's lead, demonstrating the team's versatile kicking abilities under challenging conditions.
Garett Mann commented on the weather's impact, stating,
"The rain was crazy but it was a really fun match and a great start for the B's."
Meanwhile, Coach Ryan Grant praised the collective effort and depth of the squad, saying,
"We've got a very deep and talented squad from the top side down through the B's, and our performance today reflects that. It's exciting to see new players take the field for Brown for the first time and returning players maturing into leadership roles with this squad."
Looking ahead, Brown Men's Rugby is set to face Syracuse University on September 14 at Marvel Field at Brown University, aiming to build on their current winning momentum.
