St. Edward JV Basketball Dominant in Victory Over Fairview
The JV Eagles of St. Edward High School showcased their prowess on the court with a stunning 68-31 victory against the Fairview Warriors on Saturday January 11. Playing at the Eagles Nest, the Eagles left no doubts about their dominance in what turned out to be a lopsided win.
From the outset, the Eagles took control, building a significant 36-18 lead by halftime, highlighted by Dustin Hess's dramatic three-pointer at the halftime buzzer. This momentum continued into the second half, with St. Edward outscoring their opponents significantly. Assistant Coach Pete Campbell praised the team for their effort, stating,
"We put together a balanced and intense effort for four quarters tonight."
Top scorers for St. Edward included Carson Link with 13 points, followed by Mike Williams with 11 points. Other notable contributions came from Dustin Hess with 9, Kellen Juliana and Owen McGurer each with 8, Oliver Sito with 6. Sito came in and played physically and with purpose, demonstrating the team's integrity of purpose despite the wide margin on the scoreboard. The team's strategy and execution were particularly effective in the second quarter, where they outscored Fairview 17-3, setting the tone for the remainder of the contest.
Looking ahead, the Eagles are set to face St. Vincent-St. Mary on January 14 at SVSM. The team hopes to carry forward this momentum as they improved their record to 10 - 2.
