Regina High School Varsity Volleyball Secures Victory Over FGR
Regina High School's varsity volleyball team celebrated a significant victory against the FGR Fighting Irish on August 28, 2024. The Regina varsity team showcased their prowess in a decisive 3-1 win held at the opponent's court.
From the onset, Regina dominated the court, clinching the first two sets with scores of 25-11 and 25-12. Although FGR managed to secure the third set 25-20, Regina regained their rhythm and sealed their win with a 25-16 score in the fourth set. The performance evidently highlighted the depth and disciplined approach of the Regina team.
Key players stood out with remarkable performances. Top scorers Amanda Vushaj led with an impressive 15 kills followed by Lilly Zdankiewicz with 10 kills, and Marisa Vushaj contributed 5 kills. On the defensive front, Amanda Vushaj also topped the blocks chart with 3, while Ava Janusch, Calista Mastry, and Ella Sikorski were pivotal in defense with 10, 9, and 9 digs respectively. Sikorski also served strongly, delivering 4 aces, the highest in the match.
In addition to the solid defense, Sara Wilking and Cat Jenkins significantly contributed with 18 and 14 assists, guiding the team's strategic play throughout the sets.
Looking ahead, Regina High School prepares to face Cranbrook in their next match on September 4, 2024, at Cranbrook. The team, bolstered by their recent win, aims to maintain their strong form as they continue their season.
