Regina High School Shines at CHSL Championship, Secures 5th Place
Regina High School demonstrated remarkable skill at the recent CHSL Championship held at Detroit Golf Club on October 1, 2024, finishing in fifth place with a collective score of 374. The squad faced tough competition but showcased their abilities with standout performances, particularly from Annie Artymovich, who secured third place individually with a score of 84, earning herself All-Catholic honors.
Artymovich, a key player for Regina, achieved her personal best score at the championship. She expressed satisfaction with her performance, stating,
"I was very pleased with how I played yesterday. I shot my lowest score ever, an 84. I shot 39 on the front nine, which was actually my lowest 9-hole score ever too. A highlight of my round was definitely hole 14, a par 3, where I birdied. My drive was about 10 inches from the hole. I am also really proud of the way the rest of the team played and feel good about this momentum heading into Regionals."
Her achievement not only highlights her skill but also her leadership in uplifting team morale.
Other notable performances included Mady DiLiddo, who posted an impressive 87. Teammates Nina DiLiddo and Bailie Jackowski were closely matched, scoring 101 and 102, respectively, while Emersen Holder made a commendable debut at the championship with a score of 105. Their collective efforts underscore the depth and potential of the Regina High School golf team.
Looking ahead, the team is set to compete in the MHSAA Regionals at Heather Hills Golf Club on October 7, 2024. With the momentum from their recent performances and the leadership from players like Artymovich, Regina High School aims to excel in the upcoming regional competition and carry forward their formidable presence in the golfing circuit.
