Gahanna Lincoln Lions Victorious in Season Opener Against Columbus Academy
The Gahanna Lincoln High School Lions varsity girls soccer team made a compelling start to their regular season with a convincing 4-0 victory against the Columbus Academy Vikings. The match took place on a challenging hot August evening at Gahanna Lincoln Stadium, fraught with intermittent thunderstorms and lightning nearby.
The game kicked off energetically, but the first goal came at the 42nd minute when Abby Landrum found the net, setting the Lions on a decisive path. As the match progressed into the second half, Landrum doubled the score at the 59th minute, with a remarkable unassisted goal. The Lions reinforced their dominance as Olivia Tee joined in, scoring at the 69th minute and again at the 77th minute, both unassisted, solidifying the victory for Gahanna Lincoln.
Olivia Tee also contributed an assist earlier, adding to her impressive performance. Coach Merrick praised the team's efforts, remarking, 'Great way to start the season.'
Looking ahead, the Lions will face the Hilliard Bradley Jaguars on August 21, 2025, at Hilliard Bradley High School, hoping to build on their winning start. The team currently holds a record of 1 win and no losses. This promising beginning sets a high tone for the rest of the season.
