MS Swim Takes 1st at Independent Private School League Swimming Championship
The Middle School Swim Team secured a commanding victory at the Independent Private School League Swimming Championship on January 24, 2025. The team not only took home the championship title but also dominated various events, racking up a total of 532 points to finish in the coveted first place.
The competition, held at the University School - Hunting Valley, saw outstanding performances from the Blazers in multiple categories. The 200 Medley Relay team, consisting of Emery Horvath, Kayla Wang, Eva Hughes, and Stella Schmidt, clinched the top spot with a time of 1:59.70. Asha Bauer led the 200 Free event, securing first place with a time of 2:21.26, while her teammate Evie Ward also performed notably.
Stella Schmidt and Eva Hughes shone brightly, both earning first-place finishes in the 50 Free and 50 Butterfly respectively, with Hughes also taking first in the 100 Free. In the longer distance, the 500 Free, Kayla Wang fought to secure the second position.
The Blazers showcased their depth in the relay events as well. The team of Blakely Alfonso, Maddie Colman, Filippa Johansson, and Asha Bauer won the 200 Free Relay. The 400 Free Relay team, which included Schmidt, Horvath, Wang, and Hughes, closed out the meet with a solid win, demonstrating the strong teamwork that defines the Blazers.
