Clay High School Panthers Secure Two Victories Over East Tartans
The Clay High School Panthers, led by standout performances from Sophia Craft and Emma Emnett, cruised to a 51-19 victory over the East Tartans in their recent SOC I Conference contest held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at East HS.
Sophia Craft delivered an exceptional game with 23 points, driving the Panthers' offense. Emma Emnett wasn't far behind, contributing 17 points alongside a remarkable triple-double that included 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Ava Demorest also played a crucial role, adding 9 points and showcasing her defensive skills with 4 steals.
The Panthers' defensive strategy was pivotal. Besides Emnett's triple-double, Craft secured a double-double (11 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals), highlighting their ability to influence the game on both ends of the court. Additional contributions came from Mia Lunsford, who chipped in with 2 points, 2 steals, and a block, further bolstering the team's defense.
Looking ahead, the Panthers (10-10) set their sights on their next challenge against Glenwood, scheduled for Thursday, February 6, 2025, at New Boston HS, at 6:00 PM.
In other action on Tuesday at East HS, the boys' JV team defeated East 38-21 behind the scoring of Eli Bailey and Evan Rider, who both scored 10 points. Derek Oliver chipped in 9 points while London Sinclair added 6 points.
However, the boys' varsity team fell to the Tartans 69-48. The Panthers were led by Zane Ball's 18 points. Corey Williams contributed 13. The boys are back in action on Friday (February 6) at home as they take on the same East Tartans in a SOC I contest.
