Piqua’s Girls and Boy’s Cross Country Teams Excels at Sidney Invite

Boys XC Team Capture 1st Place at Sidney Invite

Piqua High School's cross country teams showcased their competitive spirit at the Sidney Invite this past Saturday. The boys' team clinched the first-place trophy , while the girls' team secured a commendable third place finish. The event saw participation from various schools including Lehman, Urbana, New Knoxville, and host Sidney.

The boys' team was led by standout performances from Noah Burgh, who finished in first place, and Brycen Angle, who secured second place. Additional top ten finishes from Braden Holtvogt in fourth, Evan Clark in sixth, and Ty Pettus in eighth rounded out a dominating showing from the boys' side. On the girls' team Ashlyn Gearhardt finished 9th and Lucy Weiss finished just right behind her finishing in 11th place earning the Lady Indians third place at the SIdney Invite

Coach Seth Fashner stated,

"Our kids really like Sidney Invite and we have traditionally performed well on their course through the years,"

said the Piqua coach, reflecting pride in the team's consistency and referencing a history of success.

Looking ahead, Piqua High School's cross country teams are preparing for their next challenge at the 'Saturday Night Lights' event hosted in Centerville on September 28, 2024. The community eagerly anticipates another stellar performance by their teams as they build on their successes from the Sidney Invite.
