Seton High School Saints Clinch Victory at GGCL League Meet
Seton High School's girls varsity cross country team showcased a triumphant performance at the Girls' Greater Catholic League (GGCL) meet held at Christ Church on October 12, 2024, bringing home the first-place trophy!
The Saints outpaced competitors, including Mercy McAuley, Mount Notre Dame, Ursuline, and St. Ursula, marking a significant victory in the event. Notably, Heidi Harmeyer lead the Saints with a remarkable run, finishing second with a time of 18:44.10. Her teammates Abby Condren and Josie Schutte also delivered strong finishes, placing fourth and fifth with times of 20:18.60 and 20:22.40, respectively. Abby Schutte contributed solidly, finishing ninth at 21:10.70.
The GGCL League Meet was not just a day for athletic achievements but also a time of recognition and celebration. The event honored 25 senior cross country runners from Seton. Moreover, the school's dedicated coach, Nick Merk, was named Coach of the Year, emphasizing the team's collective effort and dedication.
The success didn't stop at the varsity level; Seton also clinched first place in the junior varsity and open races, underscoring the depth and talent within the program.
Looking forward, the Saints are set to compete in the District Championship Meet at Voice of America MetroPark on October 19, 2024. The team's spirit and performance have set high expectations for continued success in the upcoming competitions.
