Boys Varsity Golf Team Shines at Badger Conference Meet #2
Baraboo High School's Varsity Boys Golf team delivered an outstanding performance at the Badger Conference meet held at Yahara Hills Golf Course, tying for third place with a team score of 318. This score marks the lowest round for Baraboo golf in several years, signaling a significant achievement for the young Thunderbirds squad.
Under fantastic weather conditions of mid 60s and abundant sunshine, the Thunderbirds faced formidable opponents including Reedsburg, Sauk Prairie, Portage, Edgewood, McFarland, Mt. Horeb, and Stoughton. Standout performances came from Cooper Jauch, who led the team with a score of 76 featuring four birdies, closely followed by Jack Brinker with a score of 77 and several close birdie attempts. Jon Moon also contributed significantly with a score of 80, which included three birdies, one of which crucially came on the 18th hole, tying the team with Reedsburg in a nail-biting finish.
Coach expressed optimism about the team's current form, stating,
"I'm very excited for how we are performing as a young squad and getting different players in the varsity lineups."
This positive momentum is hoped to carry forward as the Thunderbirds head to their next challenge at the Wisconsin Dells Invitational on April 28, 2025, at the Wild Rock Golf Club. The team's remarkable progress and budding talent make them ones to watch in the upcoming invitational.
