Holy Name High School Greenwave Women's Basketball Team Clinches Victory in Season Opener Against Euclid Panthers
The Holy Name High School Greenwave women's basketball team opened their Varsity Basketball season with an impressive victory over the Euclid Panthers on November 22, 2025, at Euclid High School. The final score was a decisive 51-15 in favor of Holy Name.
From the outset, the Greenwave set a dominating tone, effectively asserting their game plan. Holy Name's offense was spearheaded by Claire Coljohn, who not only topped the scoring with 20 points but also led in rebounds with eight. Layla Rudolph and Jordan Cremona each contributed significantly as well, scoring 14 points each. Rudolph was particularly notable on defense, securing five steals. Ava Bunnell led the assists for the team with 3.
Defensively, the team showcased great discipline and grit, which was highlighted by the 14 steals forced. This was further highlighted by a standout moment when Maura Mihalik enforced a 5-second call. Nalani Simon marked her return to the court after an out of season injury had her sideline for the start of basketball season by taking a charge, adding to the team's dynamic defensive performance. Holy Name's defense kept the Panthers at bay, allowing only 15 points against them.
Looking ahead, the next challenge for the Greenwave is against Strongsville at the Cleveland Classic, hosted by Baldwin Wallace College on November 29, 2025. The team enters the contest with a solid start to the season, holding a 1-0 record. The Namers will take the Thanksgiving break to prepare.
