Union Grove High School Broncos Dominate Big Foot in Varsity Basketball Clash
In a remarkable display of skill and teamwork, the Union Grove High School Broncos secured a decisive victory over Big Foot with a final score of 83-34 on December 26, at UW-Parkside.
The Broncos had some top performances from Griffin Schultz, who scored 28 points, and Tyler Johnson, who added 16 points. Johnson also led the Broncos with 6 assists. The team showcased a dominant game from the start initiated by an impressive 26-4 run, setting the tone early in favor of Union Grove. By halftime, the scoreboard read 42-17, underscoring the Broncos' control of the game.
Defensively, the Broncos were just as effective. With Johnson and Schultz both registering 3 steals, alongside Cade Sherwood, the team managed to thwart many of Big Foot's efforts. Schultz also emerged as the top rebounder with 8, closely followed by Johnson with 7, fortifying Union Grove's defense and facilitating swift transition chances.
Coach Roettgen praised the team's performance, specifically highlighting their ability to push the tempo, which he believed was critical in creating numerous transition opportunities. The Broncos' win not only secured them a more favorable record of 4-5 but also extended their win streak to four games.
Looking ahead, Union Grove High School is preparing to face Case at Carthage College on December 27. The team hopes to carry forward their momentum and improve their standing further into the season.
