Hoosiers Weather the Storm Against the Thunder

In an electrifying display of resilience, the Indiana Hoosiers, representing the ACHA Men's Division II, secured a hard-fought 5-4 victory against Trine University Thunder on September 27th, 2025 at the Thunder Arena in Angola, Indiana. The Hoosiers' comeback highlighted their determination and skill, overturning a deficit to clinch the win in the final period.
The game started off tightly with both teams locking at 1-1 by the end of the first period and the Hoosiers loosing a few players to injury. Hoosiers' Carter Grimes and Thunder's Josh Daniclowski each found the net, setting the stage for a competitive clash. However, the second period saw Trine taking a significant lead, scoring three goals by Trenton Gebben-Thompson, Blake Polifke, and William Nilsson, against a lone goal from Indiana's Davis Jegers, making the score 4-2 in favor of Trine.
The final period was a dramatic turnaround as the Hoosiers, led by their potent offense, dominated the play. Freshman defenseman James Martin scored his first collegiate goal, bringing the game to a thrilling tie. Further goals by Luke Slaven and a second of the game for Davis Jegers, who also scored the game-winning goal, sealed a remarkable victory for the Hoosiers with a final score of 5-4.
The game was also noteworthy for the Hoosiers' defensive strategy, with goalie Nate Gutzmann playing a crucial role helping steer the puck away from danger.
