Indiana Hockey Concludes ACHA 2025 Nationals Game Against Lindenwood

On March 14, 2025, in the intensity of the ACHA Men's Division 2 2025 playoffs, Nationals Division 2 Pool Play Bracket A began with the Indiana Hoosiers squaring off against the Lindenwood Lions at the iconic NHL Arena-CCIC only getting twenty minutes of hockey. WIth major storms and an incoming tornado to the St. Louis area, both teams were forced to head home with the power out at the rink and a tied score knotted 1-1. Despite the last two periods being postponed until the 17th, it was hard-fought battle by Indiana University, the Lindenwood University secured a 4-1 victory and advanced to the Final Four.
The game, full of anticipation and eagerness, began flipped starting the second period right away with only forty minutes of hockey ahead. As the second period unfolded, Lindenwood nudged ahead, courtesy of forward Stanley Lucas, who not only scored during this period but was also instrumental in securing the game-winning goal. The final period saw the Lions bolster their lead with two goals from Logan Millhausen, ultimately sealing the victory for Lindenwood. His first, off of a rebound in front of the Indiana crease at the 17:07 minute mark of the period, his final was an empty netter which was the dagger.
Key players for Indiana were notably Jack Stiles, the Indiana goaltender, who showcased a stellar performance by making 40 saves on 43 shots. Cole Wheaton, his counterpart from Lindenwood, also performed admirably, stopping 27 out of 28 shots. The lone Indiana goal was a powerplay goal on Friday by Aidan Simoneau assisted by Will Gerami and Davis Jegers.
Although not the outcome desired by the Hoosiers, the team battled through through an immense amount of adversity over the course of the season, still closing the season with a record of 26-10-2. From having to travel to Indianapolis multiple times a week in August and September for practices and games, to relocating the National's game against Utah, even having the biggest game of the season postponed, this team always battled. The team started their season 0-7 and battled back to being the TSCHL Regular Season Champions, finishing second in the ACHA B1G Classic, winning the Southeast Regional Tournament and punching their ticket to Nationals. Seniors Ithan DeLorenzo and Will Gerami both recorded their 100th career points, as well as rookies Adam Urbancic, Matthew Schmidt, Garrett Bauermeister, Luke Strickland, Gabe Reindl, Carter Grimes, Brady Forde, and Isaiah Byrum all recording their first collegiate goals this season. It does not stop there, Jack Stiles recorded his first shutout, DeLorenzo was the TSCHL MVP and First Team All-Conference, Gerami Second Team All-Conference, TSCHL Honorable mentions for sophomore Ben Rosenberg and freshman Isaiah Byrum. No matter the outcome, the 2024-25 Indiana Hoosiers Hockey team battled together, played for each other, cared for another, and took anything thrown their way over the span of the season. Even with the elite graduating 2025 Senior Class, this team will continue to build momentum, the Hoosiers will be back for another National Tournament.
