New Whistle, New Vision: Geoff Bullock Arrives in Bloomington

The Indiana Hockey Hoosiers have officially announced the hiring of Geoffrey Bullock as their new Head Coach, with his tenure beginning a few months back on April 17, 2025. Bullock brings a substantial background in coaching and player development to the Hoosiers, following an impressive journey through various levels of the sport with the goal in mind of capturing another National Championship for this organization.
A New York native, who moved to Canada to play junior hockey and found his love for coaching working Planet Hockey Camps. He advanced to assist house leagues as a coach while playing his college days at the University of Cincinnati and returned there as an interim coach of the Bearcats until Blaine Stoughton took over the bench. Bullock's coaching career includes significant roles at both youth and high school levels. Notably, his recent positions include coaching at Hamilton Southeastern High School, where he served as an assistant coach, and leading youth travel teams for the Indianapolis Youth Hockey Association. Bullock's experience and strategic acumen were evident as he led his teams to numerous victories and tournament placings, including a memorable first-place finish in the Horseshoe Classic in Lexington, Kentucky. His family has always kept hockey central to their lives, his dad grew up playing the game and his brother George is currently the Head Athletic Trainer for the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals.
Away from the rink, Bullock serves as a high school English teacher at Decatur Central High School, just south of Indianapolis. In addition to his classroom role, he’s also involved with the school’s Yearbook Committee—an experience that reflects his passion for mentorship and detail. Bullock’s background in education shapes his unique coaching philosophy: “The way I view the game is a little different than most. I focus on allowing players to grow in their skill sets while also gaining new ones,” he explained. “My goal is to make the game simple for everyone so that each player learns something every time they hit the ice. I would consider myself a student of the game as well, which allows me to grow and improve as a coach.” His mindset fosters a culture built on growth, learning, and simplicity—an ideal fit for a student-led program focused on development both on and off the ice.
The 2025/26 Executive Board of the Indiana Club Hockey expressed enthusiasm about Bullock's appointment, citing his profound understanding of the game and his proactive approach to enhancing team performance.
"We are very excited to welcome Geoff Bullock onto the coaching staff as the new Head Coach of the Club! We feel his eagerness for both the team as well as the game, in addition to his knowledge and understanding of the game will be crucial to help the team finding success in the near future."
In his statement, Bullock shared his philosophy, emphasizing the importance of taking opportunities and the impact of a positive mindset in sports and personal goals. He highlighted a motivational quote from hockey legend Wayne Gretzky,
"You miss 100% of shots you don't take"
to underline his point about the necessity of taking action to achieve goals. This appointment marks a significant phase for the Hoosiers as they look forward to a new chapter under Bullock's leadership.
