Rockets Shine at OHSAA D2 State Track and Field Championships

The Bay High School Rockets Track and Field team made a significant impact at the OHSAA Division 2 State Championships in Columbus, Ohio, on June 7, 2025. The event marked a remarkable showcase of talent and determination from the Rockets, particularly from standout athletes Jayden Perrine and Michael Hanselman.
Jayden Perrine turned heads with a thrilling performance in the 100m. In the preliminary rounds, Perrine set a new school record and stunned onlookers by clocking an impressive time of 10.58 seconds, ranking him among the top high school 100m times ever recorded in Ohio across any division. This exceptional performance secured him a win in his heat and a strong third-place finish in the 100m finals, trailing only behind last year's champion and runner-up. Notably, Perrine was the sole underclassman to make it to the finals, setting high expectations for his future competitions.
Michael Hanselman participated in the 3200m race. Although he did not achieve the outcome he hoped for, Hanselman's track record at Bay High School remains outstanding. Known for his aggressive racing style and impressive pace, Hanselman has consistently delivered performances that have excited the crowd and challenged his competitors. His tenure at Bay High School has been marked by numerous victories, and his next steps will see him join the Kent State Golden Flashes, where his racing style and strong work ethic are expected to thrive.
As the season concludes, the Bay High School Rockets are proud of their athletes' achievements. Coaches and teammates alike are optimistic about the future and excited to see what lies ahead for these talented runners.
