Avon High Eagles Succeed in Volleyball Match Against Olmsted Falls
In a commanding home performance, Avon Eagles volleyball team secured a victory over the Olmsted Falls Bulldogs on October 1, 2024, with a final score of 3 Sets to 1. The match was a part of the Southwest Conference schedule, demonstrating the Eagles' strong form as they improved their record to an impressive 17-1.
The opening sets were tightly contested, with the Eagles clinching both by a narrow margin of 25-23. The Bulldogs, not going down without a fight, came back to win the third set 25-21. However, the Eagles regained momentum and concluded the fourth set at 25-18, sealing their victory. Key performances came from Londyn Stone, who overwhelmed the Bulldogs with a notable 18 kills and equally impressive stats in blocks and digs. Bethany Sherwood also played a significant role with 11 kills and showcased her defensive skills with a block.
Avon's ability to maintain composure and dominance at crucial moments was evident. In addition to powerful spikes, the Eagles excelled defensively. Stone and Addie Reinhart both reached a high of 19 digs, closely followed by Thea Beran with 15, contributing significantly to the team's resistance against the Bulldogs. Kaitlyn Pojman stood out in serving, delivering 3 aces.
With this victory, the Eagles are looking ahead to their next challenge against the Midview Middies on October 3, 2024, in Grafton. As they continue their pursuit of excellence, the Avon Eagles are undoubtedly a team to watch this season.
